Mamma Mia Theatre Breaks in London
Talking about Mamma Mia Theatre Breaks, and just to be clear I mean the stage musical that's been going for ten years, not the film although the film is great too.
So this is a top feel good musical with fantastic choreography and of course no lack of toe tapping singalong tunes thanks to the 22 Abba songs incorporated into the story.
Mamma Mia theatre breaks transport you to a sunny Greek island instead of London!

Grease Theatre Breaks
Grease is the word for Grease Theatre breaks if you happen to like that sort of thing and lots of us do like that kind of thing!
It's all about the songs, and the schoolyard banter, and the pink ladies and the T-birds. Get out the old leather jacket and stroll on down, never mind the decade. Grease theatre breaks include top tickets, cool Hotel rooms in central London and maybe the return rail fare as well so you can get back to Margate, Harrogate, Neath, Exeter and Portsmouth the next day, or even the day after that.

Ray Davies on Come Dancing
Ray Davies writer, composer, performer talks about his new musical Come Dancing at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East.
Not particularly a Kinks fan, I went to see the show on Friday and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. There are some great songs and the young cast are full of energy and enthusiasm which produces an enchanting atmosphere for recounting a very human story.

Theatre Royal Drury lane
look there's a Frencgh and Saunders special on at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Calling it "still alive" preempts comments such as "Oh I didn't know they were still going". An extra something that could be added on to a London theatre break perhaps.

Wicked Victoria Apollo Theatre
Wicked is one of the most popular musicals in London theatre, still playing at the Victoria Apollo, one of the larger but also more modern(ish) venues. It's a spectacular show, with an elaborate set, outrageous costumes costumes, broomstick riding and flying monkeys, Some of the singing is very powerful too. The audience is mostly young and female, perhaps aspiring performers themselves which makes for a lively atmosphere in the Apollo which is near Victoria station, separate from London's main theatre area, but still very convenient for Wicked Theatre Breaks.
The main female roles of Glinda and Elphaba tend to change periodically with Broadway and other world productions of the same Wicked show swapping round a bit.

Theatre breaks midweek
Over on the DARnet blog there's an article which claims to offer FREE HOTEL deals with London theatre breaks. The snag of course is that you have to stay midweek, or go to a Friday matinee. Still probably worth it though, unless you are tied to school holidays and weekends. January February and March are popular months for getting away to London and taking a break without the car and kids.
